Full setup instructions
Before you start: you’ll need a Grid Finder account with access to manage your community, and the Discord account that owns or administers your server. Have an event ready on Grid Finder to try the bot.
Add Grid Finder to your Discord server
Choose Add to your server (opens Discord in a new tab), select the server you manage and review the permissions in Discord before authorising. Check that Grid Finder appears in your server’s member list.
Connect your Discord account to Grid Finder
Sign in to Grid Finder and open Connected Accounts. Connect the Discord account you use to manage your server. If Grid Finder asks you to re-authorise Discord, follow that prompt so it can retrieve your server list.
Link your community to the server
Open your community in Community Manager, then go to Settings → Discord Bot. Choose your server under Connected Server and press Save. Wait for the status to show Connected before configuring roles.
Choose a notification channel and roles
In the same tab, choose a text channel under Discord Channel. Make sure the bot can view and send messages in that channel.
Create any roles you need in Discord first. Under Roles, expand a championship or event and choose the roles for its events, splits or teams where available. Keep these roles below the Grid Finder bot’s role in Discord’s role hierarchy, then press Save.
Share your first event
Copy an event’s link from Grid Finder. In a Discord channel the bot can access, choose
/event, paste the link intoevent-idand send the command.Check that the event details are correct. Drivers can use the available controls to register, withdraw or join the reserve list; an application may be required by the event. Use Sync to request an updated embed, and follow any cooldown message before trying again.
Commands for events, results and standings
Type a command in Discord and select the Grid Finder entry. Fill in its named option using the matching Grid Finder page link. Standings use a championship link, rather than an event link.

You can also explore /community, /driver-profile, /livery-profile, /broadcaster-profile and /livery. Discord shows the required fields when you select each command.
Set up notifications and championship updates
Discord bot notifications are currently a work in progress (WIP).
The Discord Channel setting selects the channel for community notifications. Review the community manager notification preferences below the bot settings and save any changes there.
For personal reminders, open your Notification Preferences and choose the notifications and delivery methods you want.
To configure automatic updates for a particular championship, use /championship-updates. Set championship-id to the championship link, enable to true and choose the destination channel. This command requires Discord’s Manage Server permission. To stop those updates, run it again for that championship with enable set to false.
Keep your role assignments in sync
The bot assigns roles you have already created in Discord. Save your mappings first, then use Sync Roles to Users next to the championship or event to apply them. On smaller screens this button is labelled Sync.
Before replacing an existing role mapping, use Remove Roles from Users for that championship or event to clear its previous assignments. This removes assigned roles from members; it does not delete the Discord roles themselves. Then change the mapping, save and sync again.
If assignments fail, check that the bot can manage roles and that every role it needs to assign sits below its own role in Discord’s server settings.
Troubleshooting your connection
- My server is missing: check that the correct Discord account is connected, that it owns or administers the server, and that you have completed any re-authorisation prompt.
- My server is marked Linked: it is already connected to another Grid Finder community and cannot be selected here. Check the existing community connection or contact support.
- The status says Save to connect: selecting a server is not enough. Press Save and wait for Connected.
- No channels appear: confirm the bot has been added to that server and can access the intended text channel, then reload the settings.
- An event or standings command fails: use the event link for event commands and the championship link for championship commands. Copy the link from the relevant Grid Finder page.

Is the bot free to add?
Yes. The Grid Finder Discord Bot is free to add to your Discord server.
How do I add the bot to my server?
Select “Add to your server” to open Discord’s authorisation page. Choose a server you have permission to manage, review the requested permissions and authorise the bot.
How do I connect my Grid Finder community?
In your Grid Finder community settings, open the Discord bot settings and connect your server. You can then configure the roles and channels your community uses. The setup guide on this page walks you through the process.
